Why is it free?

IP Impala is a small tool that costs little to run, so we stopped charging for it in September 2026. Nobody is billed and there is no plan to cancel. The 50-a-day limit is there to keep the upstream data affordable, not to sell you an upgrade.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is there a paid plan?

No. IP Impala had Pro and Business tiers until September 2026 and no longer does. There is one plan, it is free, and everyone gets the same features. Nobody was ever billed for the tiers that were withdrawn.

Do you need my card?

No. There is nothing to pay for, so we never ask for card details and there is no checkout on this site. Sign in with Google and you are done.

How does the API access work?

Programmatic API access is not available yet and is not part of any current plan. It is in preparation; the endpoint and response format are documented on the API page so you can see what is coming. Interactive lookups on the site are unaffected and work on every plan. We will announce here when keys are issued.

What happens if I exceed my daily lookup limit?

Lookups are blocked until the counter resets the next day. There is no upgrade to buy your way past it. The limit exists because each lookup queries a paid geolocation provider. If 50 a day is genuinely not enough for what you are doing, email us and tell us about it.

What is VPN/Proxy detection?

IP Impala flags VPNs, proxies and Tor exit nodes, which helps you spot potentially fraudulent traffic or users hiding their real location. This used to be a paid feature and is now included for everyone.
